AgriHub didn’t begin in a boardroom or a technology lab. It began on a small farm in Mukono, Uganda — with a farmer who had everything except access.

A school holiday.
A farm. A sentence.
We are Team Groot — students from Uganda who refused to watch farmers struggle in silence. The story began during a school holiday, when one of us visited his uncle George’s farm in Mukono. Uncle George had spent years cultivating his land. He understood the seasons, knew his soil, and worked tirelessly every day.
Yet the rewards never matched the work. Reliable buyers were hard to find, and middlemen offered unfair prices for months of labour. When pests and disease struck, expert advice wasn’t there when it was needed most. The weather had grown unpredictable, with no simple way to plan around it. The problem was never skill or effort. It was access — to information, to markets, to expertise, to opportunity.
I have the skills and I work hard every day — but without the right tools and information, I cannot use those skills the way they deserve to be used.
